New to Blue FAQ
No, If you are signed up for an orientation session, you do not need a separate appointment. Advising and course registration take place during the orientation day.
The on-campus orientation sessions are full-day events for freshmen and half-day events for transfers. Check the New to Blue webpage for details. See Schedules. The virtual sessions for transfer students usually occur synchronously via Zoom or Teams during the morning of the registered orientation day.
Yes, to be cleared for course registration, you must complete both. New students must complete NEW BLUE (the pre-orientation course) in their D2L accounts at least four days before orientation. The on-campus (freshmen and transfers) and virtual (transfers) orientation days include academic advising and course registration.
If you have already signed up for an orientation day, contact the New Student and Family Programs office at orientation@mtsu.edu to inform them of your new major.
If you arrive on campus and have not completed NEW BLUE (the pre-orientation D2L course), you will be asked to complete it the day of. This means you may miss other important information in your in-person sessions. Please complete the pre-orientation units before your orientation day.
