Transfer – New to Blue Orientation
New to Blue is MTSU’s multi-phase new student orientation, which guides new Jones College of Business students through academic planning and resources.
Accepted Summer and Fall Jones College transfer students complete both of the following components:
Once you sign up for your on-campus or virtual orientation date, a few days later, you will receive an email notifying you to access the New Blue Orientation course in your D2L account. This pre-orientation course consists of units that must be completed at least four days before orientation. The Jones College Undergraduate Advising Center’s advising and course registration occurs on your registered orientation day. There is no need to schedule a separate advising appointment.
If you are a transfer student who has chosen to attend this second phase on campus, here is what to expect:
During the day, Jones College of Business students and their guests attend a presentation of academic advisors. Students receive a personalized package (the Blue Portfolio) with their advisor assignment and a suggested course list at this check-in. After the presentation, guests will attend their session in the Student Union. At the same time, students break up into advising groups, meet their advisors, and register for classes in the BAS Computer Lab.
Jones College advisors are assigned to their new students a few days before orientation. The advisor will reach out via MTSU Outlook email within 24 hours of their orientation day.
If you are a transfer student who has chosen to attend your orientation virtually, here is what to expect:
Your advisor will be assigned to you a few days before your virtual orientation day. They will email you an advising packet and a virtual meeting link for the day.
Please plan to block your entire morning for this meeting. Even though the meeting is virtual, it is synchronous and happens in real time. If you have a scheduling conflict, please get in touch with the New Student and Family Programs office at orientation@mtsu.edu to reschedule for a different day.
